CAREER READY PROGRAM

This skills gap training program is designed to connect job seekers with a skill set they can use to help advance their career. Career Ready is for Veterans and professionals associated with military and government entities who are pursuing a transition into a new employment opportunity, whether in government or the private sector.

PERSONALIZED AND INTERACTIVE

The 4-week interactive course is facilitated by DeVry University Career Services professionals, and combines engaging group lectures, customized one-on-one career coaching and more. Program participants are taught skills intended to assist them in seeking new employment, progressing their current career or aiding their professional development.

The course curriculum is delivered online through DeVry University’s user-friendly Learning Management System (LMS). While enrolled, participants access their weekly reading assignments, discussion threads and instructor-led lectures through the LMS. Additionally, participants interact with career advisors though coaching calls or web-based sessions.

HANDS-ON SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Each week, participants are presented with course elements, feedback and accountability in the form of coaching, assignments, lectures or interactive discussion threads. Assignments are focused on helping Veteran job seekers and career professionals expand their related skillsets, such as crafting personal mission statements, resume creation and mock interviews.

Certified coaches and resume writers facilitate the course, providing support through four key phases of the Career Ready plan: Explore, Develop, Launch and Advance. All this culminates in a final portfolio that can serve as a toolkit for job search and career development.

PROFESSIONAL, TARGETED TRAINING

Career Ready is structured as a cohort, which offers Veterans an opportunity to expand their professional reach and build connections across the country as they work on their strategic plan for pursuing their career goals. The program’s career advisors connect them with resources to support their efforts, including local job leads tailored to the needs of each Veteran.
